In this video, we discuss renal anatomy and signs of mild hydronephrosis. Note that USUALLY ultrasound does not identify the ureteral stone itself but instead looks for indirect signs of a stone. The presence of unilateral hydronephrosis on the side of pain in conjunction with high clinical suspicion for obstructing stone should be taken into account when using this finding for diagnostic purposes.
